Govt’ll Pull Down Illegal Structures in Anambra Markets – Ngonadi

The Anambra State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr. Obinna Ngonadi, has said that the State Government will pull down illegal structures in all markets in Anambra State.

Fielding questions from newsmen after a public function in Onitsha, the Commissioner said they were looking at the original plans of the various markets in the state so as to revert to the master plans.

He said if there is any structure that is not supposed to be there, the present government would pull it down.

He promised that the State Government will soon tackle the failed portion of roads in the State, saying that the State Government has increased the allocation to the roads projects to be able to address about 220km of roads in the State in the current revised budget.

He said: “So, the Government has plans to make sure that we have all kinds infrastructure, especially roads and connecting road networks. We will make sure there are good roads in the state.”

Dr. Ngonadi also assured that the State Government will partner with the Organised Private Sector (OPS) for the overall economic improvement of the State.

“The State Government is working with Organised Private Sector (OPS).I can tell you we are working with them to improve the economic situation of the state. I have personally engaged them in a lot of things,” he said.

The Commissioner revealed that the State Government is working hard to see that it has an export processing zone and they have involved OPS in the discussion.

He added that the State Government is also planning its industrial policy which would be driven by private sectors.

“We need their contributions and that is why we are actively working with them,” the Commerce Commissioner concluded.
